Australian Sovereign Fuels
Gippsland Green Corridor
The Gippsland Sustainable Fuels Precinct is a proposed recycling and low carbon fuels manufacturing Precinct to supply a transport green corridor refuelling network along the Princes Highway between Bairnsdale and Dandenong South.
The Precinct is to be developed in two stages commencing from 2027. The initial stage is targeted to be operational from early 2029.
The Precinct will manufacture 15 million kg annually of low carbon hydrogen by upcycling 150,000 tons of waste. This supply will be used to:
Refuel low and zero emission heavy vehicles,
Provide renewable energy for regional vehicles, grid firming, micro-grids and AI data centres,
Produce 48,000 tons annually of low carbon methanol.
Gippsland Sustainable Fuels Precinct
The Precinct development is proposed in two phases.
Phase I will provide capacity to upcycle 75,000 tpa of waste, with site development and services sized to support a subsequent expansion to 150,000 tpa waste.
On-site heavy vehicle electric vehicle recharging and hydrogen refuelling dispensing will be available, complementing four additional hydrogen refuelling stations along the Princes Highway to Melbourne.
On-site solar will provide part of the Precinct’s initial renewable power requirements. Space is reserved for additional infrastructure, including potential extra upcycling capacity and combined heat and power offtakes that could either be a nearby horticultural greenhouse or an AI edge data centre.
